Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello Appears in Court for Bail Hearing

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, appeared before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja on Tuesday for the hearing of his bail application. Bello was joined by his co-defendants, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, in proceedings presided over by Justice Maryanne Anenih at the Maitama court.

The ex-governor, who has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since his arraignment on November 27, arrived at the court under heavy security. The EFCC had earlier declared Bello wanted over allegations of money laundering.

The court is expected to rule on the bail applications for Bello and his co-defendants, who are facing a 16-count charge filed by the EFCC on behalf of the Federal Government. The charges, under case number FCT/HC/CR/778/24, include accusations of a criminal breach of trust involving N110.4 billion.

Justice Anenih’s decision on the bail applications is highly anticipated as the case progresses.
