The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) approval of unscheduled flight operations at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport as a timely and significant achievement.
Segun Dipe, the APC Publicity Secretary in Ekiti, commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the milestone, describing it as a “promise made and kept” and a remarkable Christmas gift for the people of the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, announced the NCAA’s approval for non-scheduled flight operations under Visual Flight Rules. The approval, effective from December 15, 2024, to June 15, 2025, allows private jets and chartered flights to operate at the airport from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Oyebode said, “The government of Ekiti State welcomes NCAA’s approval for non-scheduled flight operations, which paves the way for private jets and chartered flights to land and take off from the airport. This is a significant step toward securing final approval for commercial flight operations.”
Speaking on Friday, Dipe emphasized the importance of the achievement, saying, “This is a Christmas gift specially wrapped for everyone in the state. It’s a testament to Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to his promises. The airport is no longer just a dream but a reality that will benefit all.”
Dipe urged the people of Ekiti to look beyond past criticisms of the airport project, noting its potential to transform the state. He added, “With this milestone, we have shown that dreaming big leads to achieving greatness. Ekiti now boasts an airport—a feat once considered improbable but made possible through determination and divine grace.”
The APC spokesperson expressed optimism that the airport would catalyze economic growth and bring immense pride to the people of Ekiti, stating, “This achievement symbolizes today’s success and tomorrow’s greatness. We thank Governor Oyebanji for his visionary leadership at such a crucial time.”
